I was born in Santa Monica, California on July 9, 1966 and grew up in West Los Angeles. I was raised in a loving Christian home. Our family became very active in ministry and my parents formed a music group in the late 70's called the Amplified Edition. Over the years we ministered in hundreds of churches along the entire west coast of North America. We recorded over a dozen albums in our own recording studio and produced several albums for other Christian musicians. I played drums, wrote songs and helped arrange and produce the albums. I was also involved in leadership in our home church. Over the years I taught Sunday school and Bible studies, was on the Board of Deacons who maintained the church property, led the Men's Ministry Department, and was on the Board of Elders for nearly 6 years. I have worked at an architectural and engineering firm since March of 1985. I do computer drafting and we specialize in high-end structures varying from custom homes to million-dollar swimming pools. Over the years we have produced structural drawings for more celebrities than I can count, amongst them some of the most famous people on the planet. Although it sounds somewhat glamorous, I assure you it isn't. The work is challenging at times but is extremely tedious. My job has provided a living for me, my wife Denise, and our son Justin, but has never been what I "want to do when I grow up."
Over the years I have been involved in various creative pursuits from music, to drawing, and writing. I wrote a feature length screenplay that generated some interest but has not yet made it into the hands of the right person to get it made into a film. I have always been a creative, artistic person but prefer to create for the pure pleasure of it rather than doing it for a paycheck. Work is work, creativity is for fun!
Around the year 1999, Denise and I were going through a crisis in our marriage. We separated for a total of 16 months. During that time I watched The Matrix. I had always seen the world differently than others around me but this movie caused a paradigm shift in my world view! This was when I began my awakening. I can be stubborn and hard-headed which is good for some things but really slows the awakening process to a crawl. Here I am 13 years later, still trying to figure out what's truly going on in this experience we call life. Life can be dull and repetitious or exciting and fulfilling. It really comes down to our perspective.
Much of my energy lately has been spent working with Denise to heal her body naturally. I was often sick when I was young. I had Scarlet Fever when I was 6 years old. I remember the doctor making house calls to check on me because I was too sick to go his office. When I was 7 I had a bad case of the Chicken Pox. When I was 13 I had pneumonia with a secondary kidney infection and spent my entire summer in bed. For treatment I was put on several forms of antibiotics over the course of 18 months. A few years later I began a series of bouts with strep throat and mononucleosis as a result of my body attempting to detox from the long steady stream of antibiotics. I had to stop drinking milk and cut back on dairy products during that time which became a habit in my diet. Once I was well, I vowed never to take medications of any kind unless it was a matter of life and death and I continue to live by that to this day. I truly believe that is one of the main reasons that I have only had 3 voluntary visits to the doctor (2 check ups and one minor throat issue) in the last 25 years. I am not exaggerating. I get a cold or the flu once every 12 to 18 months but only take over-the-counter medication in extreme instances. I have truly been blessed with generally good health for most of my adult life but, with a desk job, I've led a somewhat sedentary lifestyle. One of the hardest things to motivate myself to do is exercise.
I wanted to be a nurse and make people better.
I was born in Anne Arundel, Maryland on November 20, 1967. I lived in Maryland til I was 12 years old, from there we moved to Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta back to Maryland. Then in 1985 I moved back to Los Angeles on my own. I loved LA and I've been here ever since. In 1986 by unusual circumstances I was offered a job as a medical receptionist for a place called "The Center for Viral Diseases." I had been working in the retail field and and had no experience in the medical field what so ever but, I figured I'd give it a chance. The ironic thing is they specialized in treating people with Epstein Barr Virus and I had been diagnosed with Epstein Barr in 1984. I became very intrigued with the whole concept and wanted to learn all that I could. I've been in the Medical field ever since with the exception of a few jobs here and there in insurance and orthodontics. I'm currently an office manager for an Ophthalmologist and have been there for over 12 years now.
I enjoyed learning about medicine and health. In my younger days my family was into the holistic approach to wellness. My brother was very sick at a young age and was needing to have surgery. My parents wanted to get another opinion and they talked to someone at a health food store and he was able to give them information and helpful hints of how to help my brother. As a result we changed the way we were eating and started taking supplements. I even had to eat liver!!! I don't think I could do that again though. After some time of this lifestyle change, my brother went back to the doctors for a check up and he was fine. The surgery was no longer necessary! This was an eye-opener for me. I was about 14-15 years old at the time, but it wasn't until I was older and dealing with my own health issues that I began implementing a healthy diet and supplements into my own life.
It took getting a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis to actually start waking me up to the fact that "I" needed to do something for myself to get better. The doctors were not helping me, they just kept pushing me to use prescription medication, which did not help me at all. Ron kept telling me, "God has given us everything we need right here on earth to heal our bodies naturally." I did a lot of praying to try and figure out what I needed to do.
